Services

The Writing Centers on both the Santa Rosa and Petaluma campuses offer free tutorial help by English department faculty and instructional assistants for all SRJC students who seek assistance with their writing. Instructors work with students on the full range of the elements of composition, including brainstorming, thesis development, essay organization, paragraphing, topic sentence clarity, style, coherence, MLA documentaion format, research techniques, mechanics, grammar, and punctuation. English composition skills apply to writing done across the curriculum. Students may also use the computers in the labs to draft essays and do research.

Policies

Students using the writing lab for tutorial services or for computer/printer use must sign in and out using their student id number.

Students seeking tutorial assistance must sign up on a wait list. The instructor or teaching assistant onduty will call each student in turn to the tutoring table.

Tutorials are typically between 10 - 15 minutes; however, if several students are waiting, the instructor may need to further limit the session.

Cell phones must be turned to SILENT mode.

Please keep talking to a minimum.
